Fees

2010 FEES & REQUIREMENTS

Production/Costume Rental Fees (combined):

  • $135 per dancer (non-refundable) for one role
  • $155 for two roles
  • $175 for three roles
  • $195 for four roles
  • (excluding understudy roles)

Production Fees include choreographers' fees, as well as all other costs associated with the production (facility rental, technical crews, scenery and lighting, printing, publicity, etc., as well as continuous improvement of our production). Production fees this year also cover publication of the Souvenir Program. Each dancer will receive one Souvenir Program as a keepsake of his/her participation.
Costume Rental Fees include creation or purchase of new costumes and accessories, as well as alterations, repair, replacement and cleaning of existing pieces.

COSTUME CARE

There is no costume deposit this year. However, all costumes and accessories (headpieces, gloves, fans, etc.) are the property of the Nutcracker Production Company, and must be returned in the same condition as they were received. An additional fee may be assessed at the Director's discretion if the costumes were damaged or lost due to the negligence of the dancer.
Please note that perspiration can cause permanent damage to costumes. If your child is old enough to sweat under the arms, please have him/her use antiperspirant.
Please return all costumes and accessories to WEAD the week after the performance. Please do not clean the costumes, as this will be professionally done and is covered by the Costume Rental Fee.

TIME COMMITMENT

Every dancer will be in rehearsal for at least 90 minutes per role, per weekend, for the first 4/5 weeks. Beginning in November, he/she will need to be available for both Saturday and Sunday rehearsals, as this is when we begin to put scenes together. Please reserve these weekends on your child's schedule.

If your student cannot make rehearsals due to prior commitments, please provide details of the dancer's availability for rehearsals on his/her audition form. Although we will make every reasonable attempt to work within your schedule, this will necessarily affect the choreographers' decisions in casting your student.
It is the student's/parent's responsibility to determine whether he/she can faithfully attend the rehearsals for any role he/she accepts prior to accepting the role.

ATTENTION PARENTS

We rely very heavily on the contribution of parents to complete the many tasks associated with such a large production. We would like every family to take at least one volunteer job during the course of the production.
There are a wide variety of tasks to be done, both before and during the show's run: sewing costumes, supervising in the studio during rehearsals, making phone calls, working backstage during the performances, etc. Some volunteer work can be done at home on your own schedule. Dads can help, too!
A list of volunteer positions and descriptions of the type of work required will be provided on this website during the week prior to the Mandatory Nutcracker Meeting. You will have an opportunity to sign up for volunteer roles at the Q&A session during auditions AND at the Mandatory Nutcracker Meeting on Saturday, September 24.

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES NEEDED

Both male and female dancers will need to provide their own basic dance attire. Any female dancer performing in more than one role will need to wear a nude (tan) leotard with clear straps (designed to be worn under a costume). Nude leotards are available for purchase at dancewear stores and online. Each child will also have to provide his/her own tights, ballet slippers, and make-up for the performance. There may be some additional costume requirements for specific parts. Information will be provided on this site as it becomes available.
